Whitehaven Wines Marlborough Pro Am

Marlborough Golf Club will be host to the Whitehaven Wines Marlborough Pro-Am  in conjunction with the NZPGA for the 6th year, on Thursday 24th September. A shotgun start will get the event underway, with a total of 30 teams of four players.
We are thrilled that Whitehaven Wines agreed to be the Platinum Sponsor once again- currently finalising the Gold Sponsors.
We will be calling for individual teams in mid July, and it is great to see interest from amateur players already.
With the borders still closed, this event will attract the strongest field of Professional yet.

News Update re Whitehaven Wines Marlborough Pro-Am

Thanks for your support for our 6th Whitehaven Wines Marlborough Pro-Am to be held on THURSDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER – without your support this would not be happening.

We feel fortunate to be in the position of being able to host this event amidst a global pandemic. We will be doing all we can to keep you all safe and ask that you in return do the same to yourself and all around you please. We ask that if you are not feeling well, please withdraw in respect of others. (We do have a few names of keen golfers to fill in if necessary.)

The following holes have been allocated to the Gold Sponsors, so please embrace it, and get your banners, logos, or samples of product out there for the day.

4 Robinson Construction

Thanks also go to Redwood Tavern, Cloudy Bay Clams and RD Petroleum for their sponsorship shown in supporting this event.

We are thrilled to be hosting 52 professional players this year. To accommodate them all and to plan for the event in case we are still in Level 2 lockdown for COVID-19 we have opted for a rolling start off two tees, commencing at 10.00 a.m. for the event.

There will be cabinet food available for sale in the Club Rooms to purchase before you commence play. After you’ve played 9 holes there will be a barbecue (for a gold coin donation), also a chance to try your luck at putting (only for the amateur players please) to try and win a putter donated by the Ping Representative.

Once your round is complete, we ask that one of your team go and collect a complimentary platter of food for your team from the kitchen, while another team member goes and gets your beverages from the bar. After half an hour or so of socialising in the Clubrooms your professional team member will want to take you outside and teach you some valuable drills to assist you in chipping and putting.

Prior to prizegiving we are going to hold a small auction with three main package deals –

  1. Round of golf with course management etc for 3 players with Saxon Balck, plus a $125 voucher to be spent at the fabulous new CBD Café in town, plus 3 bottles of Whitehaven wine, plus a round of golf for four people and the use of two golf carts at Kelvin Heights Golf Course, Queenstown.
  2. Round of golf with course management etc for 3 players with Chas Craig, plus 2 x $50 vouchers from Redwood Tavern, 3 bottles of Whitehaven Wines and a round of golf for four people and the use of golf carts at Hanmer Golf course.
  3. Round of golf with course management etc for 3 players with Jonti Philipson, plus 1 $125 voucher to be spent at the fabulous new CBD Café in town, plus 3 bottles of Whitehaven wine, plus a round of golf for four people and the use of golf carts at Wanaka Golf Course.

Prizegiving will start as close to 5.00 p.m. as possible – we are remaining flexible on how this will run, depending on what level we will be at (Indoors/outdoors/limited numbers). We are very hopeful of being back down to Level 1, but if we are still in Level 2, we will need to keep our numbers to 100 in the Club Rooms and may need people to gather outside for the prize giving and only the top 3 professionals will stay back to attend the prize giving.

I am attaching an Order Form from Whitehaven Wines and know they will appreciate your order and you will enjoy drinking their wine. We are selling exclusively Whitehaven Wines for the next four weeks in the Clubrooms.

The course will be open for a few practise holes from 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday 23rd September. Prior to this time there will be too many people putting final touches on the course; hence easier to keep it closed until 4.00 p.m.

Good golfing,

Janet Leith
